Alpacka strive to build "The Invisible Boat", a raft that's easy to paddle, packable, low maintenance, ultra-light and tough. It's all about the joy and discovery of wilderness boating - from the "back 40" all the way to Antarctica.
Simply designed, they're easy to use and versatile, yet they're built to endure long-distance treks, rugged handling, and technical whitewater. We build traditional rafts (open and spray-decked) intended to be paddled with a kayak paddle, and an inflatable rowboat. We build them to be fun, and to last. The boats weigh as little as 2 to 2.5 kg each, plus paddles.
The first Alpacka raft was built for an off-trail trek across the Brooks Range, Alaska. More than seven years later they are still designing and hand-building simple, tough boats with the best materials and techniques available. Alpacka rafts are artisan craft, from stem to stern. Each one has a little personality of it's own.
"For us, it's about staying true to our vision - and our vision is that it's not about the boat. It's about doing what you want to do, and going where you want to go." Alpacka
